I got into Deerhunter about several years too late, but hey! It’s really never too late to appreciate “Nothing Ever Happened.” The faux-cheerful music juxtaposed with the rather apathy-saturated lyrics is perfect for the lost generation.

Shugo Tokumaru covered Black Moth Super Rainbow’s “Sun Lips,” which is one of my favorite songs ever. This purely instrumental version is beautiful and almost orchestral in its complexity. It keeps the catchiness of the original track but with Tokumaru’s distinctly Japanese sound. Enjoy!

Bonobo recently released an album of remixes, and here’s my pick: “The Keeper (Banks Remix).” The seamless merge of a dancefloor-ready beat, soulful vocals and poignant acoustic riffs is what I adore about this track. I am positive that I will have this on repeat forever. The sinuous bleepy bloop is intoxicating (did I really just make that sentence?)

“Paddling Out” is the new single from Miike Snow, who I only discovered recently. I love how catchy it is - it’s like it can’t decide if it’s indie pop or dance music, but in a good way. I’m definitely excited for their new album.

“Nowhere” by Wild Nothing, a Virginia band, is a pleasant, cheerful track with dreampop-ish fuzziness and combined male and female vocals, which I always love. They have a pretty distinctive sound, which isn’t that common in indie pop/rock.

“Hurry ft. Jhameel” by Surrender is a fantastic track for the dancefloor. I love everything about it: the thick beat, jingly bit (yeah, it’s pretty hard to translate music into words), and Jhameel’s unique, passionate vocals. I’m going to play this next time I DJ at a party (and by DJ I mean sneak near the amp and plug my iPhone into the jack before the other hipsters can notice I’ve changed the music).
